Great Expectations

Yesterday the Freedom Ride Team gathered together at Haw River State Park to begin preparing for this incredible upcoming week. After months of conference calls and emails, many of us finally had the opportunity to meet one another for the first time. Fast friendships soon began to blossom!

Over the past two days together we have eaten, prayed, and worked together - developing both as a team and as individuals as we put the final touches on this great event. Our participants, including our guests from Botswana and Cape Town, South Africa, arrive tomorrow afternoon, and I am certain none of us will leave Haw River unchanged.

As we begin this journey tomorrow, I ask your prayers for all of us. Pray that God might open our hearts and our minds - and those of the whole world - to his reconciling, healing love; so that each of us might become a part of the healing work he has already begun, causing justice to "roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream!"

  1. Those of us in Raleigh/Chapel Hill were having such a great time with the folks from Botswana, South Africa, and the Diocese of Northern California that we had a hard time sending them off to you. Would that everybody's child could have the experience that you are about to have together!
